Happy Thanksgiving!

It is almost time for Thanksgiving break and our students and teachers will be able to enjoy a much needed and deserved rest.  Family gatherings and lot’s of good food are on my list of activities— and if my daughter has her way- I guess a little shopping!

I have really neglected keeping up with my posting- I looked and I am embarrassed to say I haven’t written a thing since last January!  So- I will fill you guys in on what has been happening.  This summer we got new software- business and student and it has been a big change!  The jury is still out on whether or not it was a ”good change” but we are adapting and moving ahead.  We also got updates to the student grade book and to the parent portal.  It caused a few tense moments for me- and for some others. It deleted out some of the parents information in the portal and it seemed to be random.  For future reference- the portal information has to be updated every year.  They told me in the beginning that the parent information should carry over from year to year- but if it doesn’t- all you have to do is rebuild your user id account.  The portal id for you child/children will not change- so that may be something you want to keep in a safe place.  The alerts you set up and the individual information in the parent portal will have to be updated every year.  The grade book information is deleted in the summer and is rebuilt when school starts in the fall.  It will always be a work in progress I guess because they are always working on improvements.  Please fill free to call or email me if you have any questions.

I hope you have a very safe and blessed Thanksgiving Holiday and before you know it - it will be the end of the first semester and Christmas will be here.  HO HO HO

If I have not spoken with you personally and you have not been accessing the parent portal- it is a fairly easy process and all the directions are on the QISD website. Just click on the parent portal button on the right side of the page- click on the register for the parent portal in the middle of the next page- then click on new user and follow the instructions on building you user id and password.  When you get to the end it will ask for your child’s birth date  and the portal ID.  If you need the portal id – you can email me at terri.ingram@qisd.net and I will get it to you.

  Happy New Year!

Hope everyone is back to work and well.  Seems we have a few people suffering with a nasty stomach virus and of course the sinus and congestion problems that we have every winter.  Hope you have escaped both things but if you haven’t- hope you are feeling better now!

I just wanted to say that the parent portal should be set to the second semester and up and running.  If you are having problems seeing your child’s second semester grades and attendance please let me know.

We have had some really big changes around the school district and we are all working very hard towards making our district exemplary……. Please help us help the students be successful in all that they do!

This year is really flying by- here it is the end of the first semester already!
For our new teachers – just a quick refresher on end of semester grading.  You will post your grades just like you always do and save them.  Then you will go to cycle grades- here you can put in a grade over-ride, comment, or citizenship.  For high school and junior high teachers this is also where you will post your semester exam grade.  You MUST fill this in because it is part of the formula for averaging semester grades.  If you did not give a test or the student was exempt from the test- you may use an E.   The semester grade column must either contain a grade or an E- it cannot be blank.  Elementary teachers do not use the semester test so you do not have to worry about this.  Once you have all your grades posted you click on compute semester averages, put in your pin and save.  When you have checked your semester grades and are satisfied they are correct you will mark them ready to post just like you did for the 1st and 2ND cycles.  Good luck!

I would like to take this time to say Merry Christmas to all of you and my prayer is that God would bless you and your family in the coming New Year!

santa45We recently had an update to the parent portal and hopefully that took care of the problem we were having with some students classes not showing up on their schedules.  If you are still having a problem with viewing your child’s schedule or grades please contact me and I will try to get that fixed as soon as possible.

23 more shopping days until Christmas………………….

thankskids3  Well I am back at work and thankful to be feeling well.  I want to apologize for any problems you had with report cards when I wasn’t here to take care of them but I would like to thank Jana, Mary, Yvonne, Brenda, John, and Mr. Turner for all the hard work they did on my behalf.   I really believe that we work with the best people in the whole world.  We are now hard at work in the third six weeks and Christmas will be here before we know it.  Keep up the good work posting grades and attendance- you guys are really the best!  I have been missing all the exciting football but I am ready for this week.  I just want to say

 “Go INDAINS!  BEAT  THE  WILDCATS!”

The end of the second six weeks is almost here.  Everyone seems to be doing a really good job of keeping their grades in the grade book up to date.  Thanks for all your hard work!

Look for your campus secretary to let you know when grades are due for the second six weeks.

Just a reminder- you might want to print a paper copy of your six weeks grades and assignments and file them if you are not keeping a paper grade book.  If something were to happen to the server- and the back up- you would be able to replace all your data.

If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with me!

Happy Halloween!
