Parent Meetings

January 20th, 2012 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

We at Quanah High School would like to thank all of the parents who had the time and took the opportunity to come and visit with us on Tuesday. We always look forward to seeing our parents. We want you to know that you are always welcome to come to our building. If you were not able to attend this week, please feel free to drop in and we will share with you the information we shared. Our goal for Tuesday’s meeting was to simply let you know where your student is at this point in time and the things we are doing to help your student get to where they want to be. We are proud of the progress our students are making and the job that the teachers and students are doing together to elevate Quanah High School as one of the best High Schools in the State of Texas. It is our belief that we have to work together to accomplish great things. We will continue to find ways to involve our parents in positive interactions with our staff and students.

TXConnect, a parent’s best friend

November 11th, 2011 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Parents I want to encourage you to use the txconnect parent portal. This is the best way for you to check on your students’ grades, assignments, and attendance. This service will also give you an email alert if you choose, when a failing grade is recorded and an absence is noted. If you would like this service you will need to call Terri Ingram at the Central office 663-2281, and she will give a password that is unique to your student. This safety feature protects your student’s information so that only you can view this information. TXCONNECT is the easiest, fastest, and most convenient way to monitor your son or daughters’ progress.

Science Teachers to Comanche Springs

On Tuesday, Mrs. Matney, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Adams, Mr. Leonard, Mr. Taylor and myself visited the Three Rivers Foundation Science Center in Crowell. We toured the facility, which is phenomenal, and visited with the staff. Our goal was to see what opportunities we could find for our students from the Elementary through High School. The presenters at the facility were wonderful. We learned of the different programs they help schools with that extend from their campus into  the classrooms.  We learned that they offered more than just astronomical science, but also biological and ecological sciences. We enjoyed our visit and look forward to working with the 3RF in the future.

Today Mrs. Campsey is taking several Juniors and Seniors to Midwestern State for a Majors Fair. Thursday Josten’s will be on campus to take Senior Graduation announcement orders. We will be having two assemblies this week: “Aim for Success” on  Thursday at 10:35 and a second assembly that day at 2:00 covering topics from Bullying to Dating violence. We are also observing “Red Ribbon” week bringing an awareness to be drug free.

Our football team will be traveling to Panhandle Friday. We will have an early release on Friday at 2:45. Our pep rally will be at 2:00. After a big win against Clarendon last Friday night, we will continue our quest to be District Champs with a win against Panhandle this week.

Our continued support to our band who competed in their UIL marching competition last Saturday. The band received a mark of III on their performance. The band is showing great progress and are adding a great element of school spirit.

I encourage parents to ask their children to recite to them the Alma Mater. We have made a concentrated effort in encouraging all students to learn the Alma Mater. We believe this will add to their pride and love of Quanah High school.

Basketball is right around the corner. Our Lady Indians have begun afterschool practice with games starting on November the 11th for them.

Some of our FFA students just returned from their trip to the National Convention in Indianapolis Indiana. They had a great time and many new experiences.

I encourage everyone to support our kids in all the things that they do. They are proud of their work and the effort that they put into becoming young adults. They want you as parents and members of this community to be proud of them.

Failure notices

Failure notices will be sent out today, Monday Sept. 12. If you get a failure notice, you will be assigned to a tutorial for the class or classes for which you received a  notice. Those tutorials will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 13. You will remain in tutorials until the end of the six weeks. If you are passing at the end of the six weeks you could be removed from tutorials.

I urge you to monitor progress on the Parent portal. You will need a password that you can get from Mrs. Roberts. The parent portal will keep you updated on assignments, daily and test grades, and you can even choose to be sent an alert via email when a poor grade is reported.

1st Day

August 24th, 2011 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

It was a great day at Quanah High School. The school looks great, but looks even better with the students walking in the halls.  Our first day of being a “closed campus” went extremely well. With four lunches funneling through our cafeteria the kids, both Junior High and High school, did a super job of showing patience and managing themselves like we would expect them to.

Things will kick off with the JV traveling to Memphis this Thursday followed by the mighty Varsity Indians on Friday. I Love Football!

I look forward to a great year.

Back to School

August 18th, 2011 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

We are tremendously excited about the start of the 2011-2012 school year. We want to continue the momentum we gained at the end of last year with the progress we made on TAKS testing. Our students demonstrated their ability to perform and we want to build on that for this next school year and put Quanah High School at the top of the region and state in academic performance.

Our building has been transformed with a face lift. It is our hope that we have given our students the opportunity to have pride in Quanah High School and have that pride transform over into themselves as students, as representatives of our school system in all things that they do.

Our teachers have made a commitment to provide an education to all students that will enable them to go out into the world and be successful in anything that choose to pursue. Our level of rigor, our expectations of students will increase to provide that educational opportunity for all students. The addition of Advanced classes in the core subjects will help us give students that opportunity to explore a deeper level of learning and creativity.

This is going to be a great year for Quanah High School. We are going to do things that Quanah High School has never done before and continue to strive to be the best High School in the great state of Texas.

School begins on Monday, August the 22nd at 8:00 a.m. Students will meet in the Auditorium to start the day. I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s smiling face.

PUHA!!!!!
