JH Football Cancelled Tonight 10/27/11

Our JH football game has been cancelled today. There are poor conditions to the north of us. This is in the best interest of the Panhandle players, coaches, and fans that they not travel in it today.

JH Football

Today’s JH football game with Panhandle will start at 5:30. Panhandle requested that we back the time up because of the distance and there only being one game. I would appreciate it if you would help me spread the word around the community. Thank you. Coach Sims

City View scrimmage location change

We are moving our scrimmage with City View to City View this Friday. It will remain at 10 a.m. We are doing this in an attempt to save our field. We are going on a week with no water on it. We will have our well up and running soon. We are looking at not playing on it until our first Varsity home game with Hamlin. Maybe we can save it. Thank you for being flexible. The scrimmage will begin with the JV this Friday. We hope to see you there.

Schedule Change

We have moved the City View scrimmage from Thursday to Friday the 19th. It will be at 10am. I hope everyone comes out that morning. We will have “Meet the Indians” directly following the scrimmages. Two-a-days start this Monday. The kids need to be in the locker room at 6:30 am. We are going to have morning practices for the first two weeks to try and avoid the hottest parts of the day. The third week we will move to night practices from 7-9pm. That Wednesday we will practice from 7:20-9:20 so that kids have time to go to church.

We will be having a parent meeting next Tuesday at the field house at 7 pm. for all the parents who have HS kids playing football. I will have more information about the upcoming season for you then.

Have a great day! PUHA DO WORK!!!

Golf going to STATE!!!

I am sure you know by now, but I am blogging about it anyway. Our Boys Golf teams is headed to State. Garrett Betts, Tyson Marsh, Ryan Reid, Jordan Freeman, and Nathan Morris earned a trip to Austin by defeating some good teams this week. They were several strokes down to Canadian after the first day. I know they didn’t want to lose to Canadian after football. The boys didn’t either. We ended up winning by seven strokes. Ryan Reid and Jordan Freeman were the hero’s of the day. Garrett was stellar as expected, but the youngsters bowed up in crunch time. Jordan shot an 82 on the last day. That is great, and he is just a freshman. Coach Boyd asked Ryan for a 90 on the course and he gave his team an 87. He never used his woods. His strategy of irons only paid off on a course that was easy to get into trouble. They all did a great job on both days. It was fun to be there are see everyone’s excitement. Coach Boyd has done a great job with those guys all season. I really loved seeing him beaming with well deserved pride. He earned it. They still have plenty of work to do. They are not going to Austin for a vacation. They have unfinished business. The goal is a State Championship and I know they will give their best effort. PUHA!

How to make me Proud

I have to share a story quickly with you guys. I want to brag on some of our kids. At the end of yesterday’s track meet I was buying water for the kids at the concession stand. One of the ladies working told me that all the girls working that morning told her they want to move to Quanah. She said that all of our kids were so nice and polite that it made a big impression on them. My chest swelled and I walked away more proud at that moment than I have been at any moment this year. PUHA DO WORK!!!
